CB Richard Ellis to open new office in SLC skyscraper -- CB Richard Ellis, which has two offices at the Riverwoods Office Park in Provo and at the Cottonwood Corporate Center in Salt Lake City, is opening a third office at 222 South Main in downtown Salt Lake City.

The commercial real estate services firm, also a leasing agent for 222 S. Main, will occupy the entire fourth floor, or about 13,000 square feet, of the office high-rise now being built. The company will open its new office in January 2010.

"There are more than 50 commercial construction projects happening in downtown Salt Lake City," said Mark Bouchard, senior managing director of the Utah offices of CB Richard Ellis. "Our expansion to 222 South Main represents our confidence in Salt Lake City's economy going forward."

"We continue to field inquiries about 222 South Main from law firms, advertising agencies and financial services companies," said Scott Wilmarth, senior vice president at CB Richard Ellis. "Roughly 20 percent of the building is currently leased."

They include: Holland and Hart, a Denver-based law firm that will occupy the tower's top three floors; and Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione, another law firm that will occupy a portion of the building's 18th floor.

It turns out those who believed Utah was immune from the housing crisis were wrong. I foresee a price correction coming soon as the inventory starts exceeding demand.
