Provo renters won't need background checks Print E-mail
The Associated Press

PROVO, Utah -- A proposal to require background checks for every renter in Provo, except for Brigham Young University students, has been abandoned.

Instead, the city is considering a proposal to reward landlords with lower fees if they conduct background checks.

The city had been considering requiring landlords to conduct background checks for everyone who applies to rent a unit. The only people who would have been exempt from the check would have been students at a school with a code of conduct.

BYU is the only school in Utah County with such a code.

Appears that signing a "Code of Conduct" contract at nanny-U in Happy Valley is analogous to amnesty for illegal aliens!

Wow I think King George may have found his brain. Or is that to much to hope for?

Provo city seen that they were setting themselves up for a major lawsuit and also wanted to avoid national embarrassment for the Mormon establishment.

If this would have been the Catholic Church trying to impose this religious discrimination on everyone but members of the Catholic community, all LDS residents of Provo would have been screaming bloody murder.
