Accident victims released from hospital Print E-mail
DAILY HERALD

The surviving victims of an accident that killed an Orem woman have been released from the hospital. Nicole Pereira March, of Springville, and her 1-year-old niece were released after a relative accidentally backed over them at a Bear Lake campsite near St. Charles, Idaho, on Saturday.

Paulina Pereira said March, her sister, suffered only bumps and bruises, though Chloe, her niece, suffered a broken leg and will be in a cast for about six weeks.

"Everyone who was in the hospital has been released and are recovering at home. None of them have experienced any life-threatening injuries," said Randy Crane, a family spokesman. The two were injured when Melissa Peterson, March and Pereira's sister, mistook the gas pedal for the brake while backing up a pickup truck and accidentally backed over several relatives. Michele Pereira, Peterson's mother, was killed in the accident. Michele Pereira's funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the LDS Timpview Stake Center, 600 W. 1000 North in Orem.

Crane said the family appreciates the support it has received from the community.

"They have truly felt an outpouring of love," he said.
