Daily Herald

The Brigham Young University School of Music is accepting applications for the 2008-2009 Young Musicians Academy, a children's music program Saturday mornings from September 2008 to April 2009. Classes begin Sept. 6 and will include 24 class periods.

The early childhood music classes provide music environments where children can explore a variety of music instruments, recordings, songs and music toys without structured teaching.

Three classes developed for different age groups will provide music learning and exploration.

. Children are eligible for the Parent-Toddler class if they are 18 months old by Sept. 1, 2008.

. Children are eligible for the Music Explorers class if they are 3 years old by Sept. 1, 2008, or if they have previously taken the Parent-Toddler Class.

. Children are eligible for the Music Makers class if they are 4 years old by Sept. 1, 2008, and not older than 5 years by Sept 1, 2008, or if they have taken a previous BYU Music in Early Childhood Class.

Tuition is $250 per child for the year. Applications are available at music.byu.edu or in C-550 Harris Fine Arts Center.
