Friday was spent helping decorate the Miss Tintic Float, which they rode on in Saturday morning's parade, along with the Miss Tintic Support Team members. Early Saturday morning they were at the LDS church to help with tickets for the annual Scout Breakfast.
Saturday afternoon they were back in the park, this time to run the games for children set up and sponsored by Mountain High Credit Union. Finally, they spent time cheering on their favorites at the All Stars game on the baseball field.
The Miss Tintic Scholarship Pageant is a non profit organization, founded to help young women in the Tintic area obtain needed scholarship monies for post high school education.
The pageant awards close to $1000 each year to the queen and her attendants specifically for tuition, books, and supplies related to the pursuit of college or vocational degrees. In addition, the pageant sponsors workshops in self esteem, public speaking and interview skills. Pageant contestants and newly crowned royalty participate in a variety of service projects benefiting local area residents and organizations.
Miss Tintic and her attendants also plan, organize, and implement fundraising events throughout the year to provide scholarship funding for future Miss Tintic winners. The pageant welcomes private donations to the scholarship fund, which can be made to the Miss Tintic Scholarship pageant, c/o Mountain High Credit Union, Eureka, UT or for further info contact Billie Waters at 435-433-1022. |
