Drilling timetable Print E-mail
Daily Herald

Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi is 100-percent correct when she says it will take ten years to get oil from ANWR or the coastal waters: A year to drill the wells and get the oil running -- preceded by nine years of court battles by the environmentalists and political road blocks by Pelosi, Reid, Obama, Schumer and their Democrat fellow travelers.

Our very standard of living and state of civilization have been possible because we have had ample, inexpensive energy. We must not allow a tyrannical minority of ideologues to dictate our energy future.

Drill drill drill, It creates good jobs and it's good for the economy.

As an American liberal democrat I wish that the oil companies would drill now and often. We could watch the price of oil and see if it has any effect.

I believe the price of world oil is set by the oil cartel and they set the supply to produce the price they want. If too much oil comes on the market they will reduce the supply from other suppliers to compensate.

If you want us to be totally energy independent of world prices we must become isolationist to the extent that all oil drilled in the United States must remain in the United States.

This is the only way drilling in America will change the price we pay for energy.

Have you thought about how the US oil companies would probably just sell the oil overseas from ANWR and offshore rigs? Other countries are willing pay more (notice China's huge contract with Iraq they just signed). You are right, if we drill, OPEC will lower production elsewhere to compensate. If we really want the price to drop, push alternative fuels and bring alternatives to market.
