SEMINARS ON TRANSITION TO DIGITAL TV Print E-mail
Daily Herald

Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT) announced today that he will be sponsoring three seminars on the upcoming transition to digital television along the Wasatch Front.

The seminars will provide an opportunity for Utahns to receive important information well in advance of the transition from Analog to Digital television that will occur in February 2009.

"Advanced preparation and awareness will help ensure a smooth transition," stated Hatch. "In Utah there are thousands of homes which rely on free analog TV signals.

It is important to help clear up any misconceptions about the impact of the transition on television services, and to help encourage those who need to take action to do so now, instead of waiting until the last minute."

Staff from the Senator's Office, the National Association of Broadcasters, and local broadcast officials will be on hand at the seminars to answer questions, and present information.

The seminar in Utah County will be held in Provo on Thursday, Aug. 28, at 10:30 a.m. in the Utah County Courthouse Ballroom at 51 S. University Avenue.

Senator Hatch sponsored, and the Senate passed, a resolution earlier this summer designating August 2008 as Digital Television Transition Awareness Month encouraging local organizations and agencies to hold events designed to raise awareness of this issue; and help consumers receive government coupons and converter boxes for the transition.
