Ralph Dean (Pete) McKenzie, age 75, died August 18, 2008 surrounded by his loving family. Pete was born March 9, 1933 to Alvis and Essie McKenzie in Wood County, Texas.
He married DonnaVee Acord on August 14, 1954 in San Fernando, California. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Los Angeles LDS Temple.
At the age of 17, Pete joined the Navy and served in the Korean War. He worked for the United States Post Office and retired after 25 years of service.
He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He especially loved all of the hunting, fishing, and four-wheeling trips. Pete also loved going to get a coke with all of his neighborhood pals.
Pete was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in many callings.
He is survived by his six children, Terry L. McKenzie (Becky), of West Valley City; Leon McKenzie (Mikki), of Grantsville; Cheryl Clay (Dennis), of Abingdon, VA; Gary D. McKenzie (Stacey), of Ephraim; Karl R. McKenzie (Tammy), of Spanish Fork; Karen Ripple (Chauncy), of Salem; 18 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Gordon McKenzie; and two sisters, Mattie Faulk, and Irma Jean Poston. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, and several siblings. He will be deeply missed by his family and neighborhood friends.
Funeral services were held on August 22, 2008. Interment was in the Spanish Fork Cemetery with full military honors.
