Are you totally thrilled that football season is here? Why or why not? Who are your high school, college or pro teams? How do you think they'll fare this season? "Can I just be ambivalent? My kids go to the high school football games at Mountain View High. And we watch BYU games. Any time Mountain View wins we're happy."
-- Debbie Runnells "Yeah, I'm a football fan. I'm from New York so I follow the New York Giants and Buffalo Bills. I've always followed the [Indianapolis] Colts when they started their run. I have a hard time with college football, their too many teams and players changing each year to follow. I don't think the New York Giants will be in the Super Bowl again. They've got a big target on their chest. The Bills are looking better and the Colts look like they'll get to the Super Bowl." -- Chris Ward "I am not a football fan. It doesn't effect me much except the traffic. I drive on University Avenue and University Parkway regularly. I have gone to a game before but they're really long at 4 hours. It's like going to a 4-hour movie. It's a really long game." -- Catharine Verhaaren "I am. I'm a BYU football fan and alumnus. I graduated in 1967. It's one of the reasons I moved back here from New York -- BYU football and the other things the area offers. I retired a couple of years ago and enjoy all the cultural and athletics opportunities here in the Orem-Provo area. I just finished Education Week and now it's time for football. I would love to see them go undefeated but that will be a real challenge. I think Utah will present a serious challenge." -- George Smith "Oh totally. Heavens, yes. I mostly follow college. I like it more than professional and the variety of teams. BYU, obviously, and I really like Michigan and Miami. I try to make my guesses and stick to them. I think BYU will do really good, definitely a winning season. I could see them go bowling again. I think going undefeated is possible but it depends on the team. It's definitely possible." -- Jay Matheson "I am excited for my husband and sons and frustrated because I'm in charge of the family reunion [this Saturday]. My husband is being split in two directions between [BYU] football and reunion." -- Michelle Nielson "I am a big fan. My husband is a big fan of Cougar football [too]. I have mixed emotions because once the season starts ESPN will be on nonstop. But it's fun watching with him. I think they'll do really well. I don't know [if they'll go undefeated]. Yeah, I think they'll do great." -- Sarah Horsley "Sort of. My family is really into it. My dad is a big BYU football fan. I watch it with him but I don't get into it. But I like to go to BYU games. Every now and then [we go]. I think they're going to do pretty awesome." -- Tyson Cantrell "I think it's great and actually lots of fun. I've tried through years of marriage to be a better companion through the season, learn it and have fun. We're excited to go to a couple of BYU games this year. Hopefully we can take our kids. Well, we always think that they are going to do great." -- Ellie Allen "I have a son who is playing Little League football in Orem. He's 12 and it's his first year. Oh, he's way pumped. I can use football as a motivation for him to clean his room and do his homework. It's a leverage tool." -- Debbie Ferguson |
