Quad chambers meet -- The Lehi area, American Fork, Draper and Southwest Valley chambers of commerce members met across county lines from Salt Lake County to Utah County at Mellor's Hidden Meadows for a singular quad-chamber meeting on Aug. 20.

Former Miss Utah Kathy Loveless and former Utah Jazz player Mark Eaton were the motivational speakers.

"It was amazing," said Heather Miller, Lehi Area Chamber president. "We had 70 people and everyone who came loved the speakers; it was very motivational."

The next combined chamber event will be a luncheon on Oct. 7 for the American Fork and Lehi Area chambers with keynote speaker Lew Cramer, president of Utah's World Trade Center and former director general of the U.S. & Foreign Commerce Service.

Born Strong Foundation-Jim Christensen Triathlon -- A Born Strong Ride, running and walking events, cycling and a triathlon are part of the Born Strong Foundation's annual fundraiser in Lehi on Monday, Labor Day.

There are cash awards for the winners and a cash prize for the best looking bike. Registration, maps and times for the events are available at www.sportsbaseonline.com.

Harold Terry fundraiser -- Blaine and Jill Thompson of Lehi have organized a car show fundraiser on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Wines Park, 500 N. Center St.

All proceeds, there is a $5,000 goal, will go to help the Terry family. Capt. Harold Terry of the Lehi Police Department was shot during a traffic stop in June and is recuperating.

The Thompsons, owners of Rocking Hot Rod Productions, said they want to make sure everyone understands theirs is a fundraiser independent from the Lehi Police Department. However, police from Salt Lake County to Santaquin will be on hand to support the organizers.

Other local businesses are sponsoring the awards and prizes. As well as the car show, there will be vendors, booths, a food concession by One Man Band, and a parade on Lehi's Main Street upon city approval. A DJ will play 50's and 60's golden oldies during the event. The car show is free to the public. Registration and fees for entrants will be done the day of the show.

Swim for Emily -- Friends and neighbors of Jill and Matt Heaps of Lehi have planned a benefit pool party, bake sale and outdoor movie for the couple's 6-year-old daughter on Friday.

The fundraiser is from 8-10 p.m. at the Lehi Outdoor Pool, 451 E. 200 South, and organizers say they hope to raise money to help the family with its medical expenses incurred to fight Emily Heaps's severe combined immunodeficiency, a genetic disorder commonly known as the "Bubble Boy" syndrome.

Emily is the youngest of three siblings and a first grader at Sego Lily Elementary School.

She was able to have a bone-marrow transplant when she was 2-months old that allowed her immune system to work for the next five years. She recently had a second transplant and will need high-cost prescriptions to allow her body to accept the new immune system, said Crystal Hegemann, co-organizer.

Suggested donations for the party fundraiser on Friday are $5 per person or $20 per family and all proceeds go to The Emily Heaps Fund. Those who cannot attend the party or who wish to give more can make monetary donations to The Emily Heaps Fund at any Bank of American Fork branch.
