Pleasant Grove High School has been undergoing nip-and-tucks over the last year, one of which will proudly be used regularly for football games -- the new stadium.
The school has received several different new additions to its overall appearance and the stadium adds that extra shine which enhances the new field.
Alpine School District bond projects included the new turf, track and stadium at PGHS, among other additions to the school.
The creation of the new stadium began last year, and will be completed within the next couple of weeks. The visitor side is not yet finished.
"Tonight we are going to have visitors sit on one fourth of the seating, like we did before we had this stadium," said Assistant Principal, Dan Weishar, the day of the football endowment game.
The finished side of the stadium was full to bursting throughout the game.
"I would like the stadium better if the other side was finished too," Jade Kennedy, sophomore at PGHS, said.
This stadium ranges between the two 10 yard-lines. Once the entire stadium is completed it will be able to seat between 3,000 and 5,000 fans. The student body accounts for about 1,000 of that.
"Families and alumni will always come also," Weishar said.
The new stadium also includes restrooms, storage units, utility rooms and a built-in concession stand.
"There's more room, and that's good," said Megan Armknecht, senior at PGHS.
As most things are when they are brand new, the stadium is bound to last a quite some time.
"My grandchildren might even use this stadium someday," Weishar said. "It will definitely last a long, long, long, long time." |
