Beehives and Buffalo Chips 10/11 Print E-mail
Daily Herald
Buffalo Chip to the state Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control for holding a big blowout as the world economy is blowing up and Utah's budget is being slashed. The agency is spending $10,000 on a two day managers meeting, to be held at the Snowbird resort, according to the Salt Lake Tribune. Great timing.

Beehive tp Saratoga Springs resident Mark Myers and many other people for performing a magic trick fit for a fairy tale: turning pumpkins into help for a neighbor. This year, the pumpkins Myers grows in his yard became the centerpiece of a fundraiser for neighbor Jameson Jones, 3, who has leukemia.

Buffalo Chip to Salt Lake County Council candidate Paul Pugmire, who used the Steve Martin line "I was born a poor, black child" on a reunion Web site two years ago. While Martin can get away with it (we know he's joking because he's a comedian), Pugmire is, predictably, taking some heat. Obviously, he should have said "poor, white child."

Beehive to the 500 motocyclists who took part in the Hog Wild Benefit Motorcycle Ride at Timpanogos Harley Davidson of Lindon. All the funds went to a fund for Lehi police Capt. Harold Terry, who was wounded June 23. Hog Wild was organized by Zach  Blackburn, who is Terrys son-in-law, and his dad, Scott Blackburn. Timp Harley's general manager, Rick Story, and other businesses deserve a round of potato-potato-potato... er, applause.
