The Daily Herald "Backstage" opens Friday at Valley Center Playhouse, 780 N. 200 East, Lindon. "Backstage" is a comedy about the crazy emergencies that sometimes go on behind the scenes of a production. It was written by Jody and Keith Renstrom, owners of the cozy family-oriented theater in the round.
"This is where it all begins, in little theaters just like this one all over the world, where actors are developing talents and learning their craft," Keith Renstrom said. "Even though such emergencies can be scary, the experienced performer welcomes the challenge when a prop is lost, or a line is missed or forgotten, then one must rely on his own creative ability to keep the show moving and the audience unaware of the crisis," Jody Renstrom said. The couple has included many of the actual hilarious happenings they have experienced over the 27 years in operating their community theater. The talented cast consists of Vicky Rios, Brent Eimeyer, Heather Talbert, Rick Wilcox, Jennifer Fullen, Dan Wilcox, Josh Sumner, Tim Goodwin, Jana Nate and Brooke Goodwin. The show is directed by Rebecca Suazo. Performances are 7:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Monday through Oct. 7. Ticket prices are $6 for regular admission, $5 for seniors, students and children, and $25 per family. The production is appropriate for all ages, however, children under 5 and babies will not be admitted. Tickets are available at the door each night of the performance, or call 785-1186 for reservations. |
