Like the rumors about Mark Twain, reports of Miley Cyrus's death have been greatly exaggerated.
The "Hannah Montana" star is alive and kicking despite an Internet hoax over the weekend that claimed she had been killed by a drunken driver, report news sources.
Someone had apparently hacked into the YouTube account Cyrus, 15, shares with her friend Mandy Jiroux and posted a video alleging the tragic and grisly death.
The fake message attributed to Jiroux claimed: "Miley died this morning after being hit by a drunk driver. She always told us if anything ever happened to her then tell her loyal fans first before the public. R.I.P Miley, we'll never forget you!"
This caused a frenzy on Google with "Miley Cyrus Dead" becoming the most searched phrase on Sunday.
'Twilight' villain takes a 'Star' turn
Generating buzz for a wicked turn in this weekend's "Twilight," Cam Gigandet has signed on for a more sympathetic turn in "Five Day Star."
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gigandet will play the lead in the indie drama from writer-director Danny Buday.
The film focuses on a young man (Gigandet) who loses everything and has to put his life back together.
The trade paper adds that Jena Malone ("The Ruins") will play the main character's girlfriend, with Will Yun Lee ("Bionic Woman") as his best friend.
Rock stars, dragons coming to HBO
HBO, which already has 10 pilots in various stages of development, is adding a couple more to its list of potential new shows.
The cable network has ordered a pilot for a fantasy series based on the "Song of Fire & Ice" series of novels, and has started to work with Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis on a show about his unconventional upbringing.
Additionally, the showbiz trade papers report, the network is developing a comedy set in the days after the 1987 stock market crash.
