Bessie Jean Wirthlin

Bessie Jean Wirthlin, a loving mother and grandmother, passed away at 92 years old peacefully in her sleep, on Tuesday March 26, 2013 at her home in Orem UT. Born on July 31, 1920, she was the third child to have been raised by Leopold Reco and Hazel Wirthlin. She was raised in Sugar House Utah, where she completed her education by graduating High School.
Her favorite person was her grandfather, Grandpa Downard, in which she enjoyed walking with him to church on Sunday. She spent her life serving in the LDS Church in various callings, her favorite being a teacher for the 7 year old class in primary, where she fulfilled that calling for over 30 years. She served in the London South Mission and worked in the Provo Temple laundry. She also was a Grandparent Volunteer at the Scera Park.
Her children are as follows: Leo Edward Wirthlin, Ogden UT; Joseph Wirthlin, Tigard OR; Kathleen & Milton Jones, Magna UT; Jacob & Irene Wirthlin, Glendora CA; Ruth& Eldon Shinkle, Tooele UT; Sterling & Marlene Wirthlin, SLC. UT; Val & Shirley Wirthlin, Lehi UT; Chris & Karlene Wirthlin, Nampa ID; Mary & Alan Stevenson, Kennewick WA; Bessie Jean (BJ) & John Escalara, Burbank WA; Nephi & Laurie (LA) Wirthlin, Orem UT; John & Wendy Wirthlin, Orem UT. Included are 62 grandchildren, 147 great-grandchildren, and 19 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter Kathleen; son Leo; two brothers and two sisters; Leona Wirthlin, Dorothy Van Roosendaal, Robert Lee Wirthlin, and Lee William Wirthlin; two grandchildren, Scott Stevenson, and Jerry Wirthlin and her great grand-daughter, Aleecelynn Thronock.
Funeral services will be held on Friday April 5, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the Orem Sharon LDS 2nd ward Chapel; 641 S. 400 E in Orem. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral service beginning at 9:30 - 10:45am. Burial will be held at the Orem City Cemetery; 1400 N. 800 E. in Orem.

The family wishes to thank, Hearts for Hospice, especially Dr. Cherrington, Meagan, Tyra, Roy, and Bryce for their time, care, and loving support, from Aspen; Cheri, for her friendship and care, Jay, from the Morgan Center, for the years of unconditional love and peace of mind he offered to us while she attended. Geri at Mountainland for years of dedication service; and lastly, to all the Sharon 2nd ward for their love and service.
