James Henry Nance

1917 ~ 2013

James Henry Nance - a life well lived for 95 years. His earthly sojourn ended after a brief illness on May 8, 2013. He was born to John Richard Nance and Nanny Evaline Williams on Nov. 4, 1917, the youngest of 5 children in Hot Springs, AR. He married Mary Ernestine Smith on Aug. 14, 1944. They raised their family of 4 children in Hot Springs.

In Arkansas they were converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on Aug. 5, 1968. Mary died on Christmas Day, 2005. He has waited impatiently for this great reunion with her for nearly 8 years.

James was a veteran, of World War II and the Korean War. In 1967 he and Ernestine moved to Salt Lake City to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Their most treasured memories were the ones spent with family and friends all over the world.

James leaves behind his four children, Sandra Dredge (Ross) of Orem UT, Linda Hoy (Richard) of Reno, NV; Jim Nance (Suzanne) of St. George, UT; Laura Thompson (Tom) of Orem, UT; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren Graveside services will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the Mount Olivet Cemetery, 1342 East 5th South, Salt Lake City.
