Madelyn Leone Glenn Thornock
1912 ~ 2012
Madelyn Leone Glenn Thornock, 100, of Orem, Utah, passed away December 23, 2012, in Orem of natural causes. She was born September 1, 1912, in McGill, Nevada, to Robert Francis Glenn and Mary Theresa Kolbinger Glenn. After attending high school in Ely, Nevada, Madelyn attended Utah State Agricultural College in Logan, Utah, where she met and married Clarence Sylvanus Thornock on June 20, 1935, in Reno, Nevada. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on January 7, 1946.
Active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served as a Ward Relief Society President; Ward Primary President; various teaching assignments; and Provo Temple Ordinance Worker and Nursery Coordinator.
She loved hats; word searches; polka music; hugging everyone; gardening; ducks; and for many years was an avid pen pal of all the missionaries serving from her ward. She loved to sing Primary songs and would bid farewell to all of her visitors with singing "Have I Done Any Good in the World Today?"
One of her greatest joys came from serving for many years in the Provo Temple Nursery. She loved the Lord and had a strong testimony of His restored church.
She is survived by three sons: Robert Clarence (Jean Ashton) Provo, UT; Russell David (Cathy Andersen) Gilbert, AZ; and Scott Glenn (Tracy Stearns) Phoenix, AZ; sixteen grandchildren; forty great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 4 brothers and 1 sister.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2013, at 10:00 am, in the Pleasant View 6th Ward LDS Chapel, 2445 North 650 East, Provo.
