n celebration of all things Sundance, why not take some time this weekend to enjoy movies from past film festivalsfi And because no movie is complete without the perfect meal, we've matched each movie with a menu for some tasty food to pair with your flick.

Grizzly Man

"Grizzly Man" (2005) German director Werner Herzog made a huge splash in the first year of the festival's World Cinema competition with this stark recounting of the untimely demise of the failed actor whose crusade to "save" Alaskan grizzlies by living in their midst led directly to his becoming the dinner of a hungry bear.

Goes great with: Go wild with Alaska Salmon Bake with Pecan Coating and a side of fresh steamed veggies.

Alaska Salmon with Orange Vinaigrette

Serves: 4

1 cup orange juice

1 1/2 tablespoons red onion, minced

1 1/2 tablespoons lime juice

1 teaspoon Dijon-style mustard

1 teaspoon chili powder

1/2 cup fat-free Italian dressing

4 Alaska Salmon steaks or fillets (4-6 ounces each) fresh, thawed or frozen

1 1/2 tablespoons olive, canola, peanut or grapeseed oil

Salt and pepper

1 1/2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped

Prepare sauce: Cook orange juice in a small saucepan over medium-high heat until it is reduced to the consistency of syrup (makes about 1/4 cup); let cool slightly. Place onion, lime juice, mustard, and chili powder in a blender or food processor; add cooked syrup. Blend 10 seconds. With blender running, slowly drizzle in Italian dressing until mixture emulsifies; set aside. Rinse any ice glaze from frozen Alaska Salmon under cold water; pat dry with paper towel. Heat a heavy nonstick skillet or ridged stovetop grill pan over medium-high heat. Brush both sides of salmon with oil. Place salmon in heated skillet and cook, uncovered, about 3 to 4 minutes, until browned or well grill-marked. Shake pan occasionally to keep fish from sticking. Turn salmon over and season with salt and pepper. Cover pan tightly and reduce heat to medium. Cook an additional 6 to 8 minutes for frozen salmon or 3 to 4 minutes for fresh/thawed fish. Cook just until fish is opaque throughout. To serve, pool 2 tablespoons orange vinaigrette sauce in the center of each of 4 plates; top with salmon and garnish with chopped cilantro.

Happy, Texas

"Happy, Texas" (1999) Ironically entered in the festival the same year as the hugely successful "The Blair Witch Project" (the most profitable film ever to come out of Sundance), this cross-dressin', small-town comedy became code for every past and future bad investment at Sundance after Miramax spent either $10 million or $2.5 million (depends on who you ask) to secure an eventual box-office return of just $1.9 million.

Goes great with: This flick may have flopped in the box office, but your meal of Texas-style brisket, baked beans and Texas Sheet Cake for dessert is sure to be a hit.

Texas Brisket

Serves: 6

3 1/2 fluid ounces liquid smoke flavoring

1/4 cup ketchup

1 (10 fluid ounce) bottle stauce, ( e.g. Heinz 57)

1 (3 pound) beef brisket

Line a shallow roasting pan with aluminum foil. Place the brisket on the foil. Stir together the steak sauce, liquid smoke, and ketchup. Pour half of the mixture over the brisket, then turn the meat over, and pour sauce over the other side. Wrap tightly in a double layer of aluminum foil. Refrigerate for at least 24 hours. Preheat the oven to 250 degrees. Let the roast stand at room temperature while the oven preheats to take off some of the chill. Bake for 6 or 7 hours in the preheated oven. You can leave it in even longer if you turn the oven down to 200 degrees. Remove brisket from the oven, and slice across the grain. Return to the roasting pan, and serve with sauce.

Napoleon Dynamite

"Napoleon Dynamite" (2004) Transplanting the "Seinfeld" concept of pointless comedy to hilariously rural Preston, Idaho, turned out to be a stroke of genius for Brigham Young University alum Jared Hess, who got calls from the likes of Adam Sandler after Sundance audiences belly-laughed from start to finish of this tale of a 12th-grade nothing.

Goes great with: Nothing but a hearty meal of whole milk (definitely not 1-percent), juicy steak and a somewhat unconventional side of Tater Tots will taste right with this funny flick.

Country-Fried Steak

Serves: 4

4 beef cubed steaks (about 1 pound)

2 egg whites, well beaten

2 tablespoons milk

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Prepared salsa, plain yogurt

Coating:

1 tablespoon cornmeal

1/2 teaspoon Spicy Seasoning Mix (recipe follows)

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon pepper

Combine egg whites and milk in shallow dish. Combine coating ingredients in second shallow dish. Dip beef steaks into egg white mixture, then into coating mixture, to coat both sides. Heat oil in large nonstick skillet over medium to medium high heat until hot. Place steaks in skillet; cook 5 to 6 minutes, turning once. Serve with salsa and yogurt.

The Spitfire Grill

"The Spitfire Grill" (1996) Town drama about a young woman, a popular eatery and an essay-writing contest is possibly the most famous film ever to spark a bidding war at Sundance, where it was also an Audience Award winner.

Goes great with: For this down-home flick, heat up your own grill for a classic meal of burgers with a side of grilled fruits and veggies.

Grilled Peaches

Serves: 4

4 fresh ripe, medium peaches

1 tablespoon mixture of red chili flakes, dry leaf thyme, garlic powder, lemon pepper, and ground coriander

Super Size Me

"Super Size Me" (2004) Before there was "Fast Food Nation," filmmaker Morgan Spurlock rattled a nation of fast food consumers (after first lighting a fire under festivalgoers in Park City) by turning himself into a living science experiment by eating three meals a day at McDonald's for a month.

Goes great with: You're not going to want to take a trip through the drive-through for this movie night. Try a healthy salad with some lemon water. Trust us.
