• HEARING SCHEDULED -- A hearing has been scheduled for a man convicted of shooting his estranged wife to death in 2002.

Robert Steven Hatch appeared before Judge Fred Howard Tuesday seeking an extension of time to file an appeal. Judge Howard recused himself, however, saying there are several possible conflicts of interest, including the fact that his daughter worked on Hatch's case. Hatch's trial and sentencing were before Howard, but conflicts have arisen since.

The case was sent to Judge Steven Hansen, who will determine whether to grant the extension.
