American Fork church hosts Bible camp
Instead of learning fireside chants or making bead necklaces at summer camp, your children could be learning about heroes from the Bible.
American Fork's Calvary Mountain View Church is hosting its "Crocodile Dock" Vacation Bible School next week from Monday through Friday, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. each day. The school is open to children ages 5-11.
Kids will participate in games, make crafts and join in other activities centered around stories from the Bible. Calvary Mountain View Church is located at 340 E. State St. in American Fork. Additional information about the school is available by phone at (801) 756-1446.
BYU prepares to host annual Campus Education Week
There's only one month remaining until Brigham Young University hosts its popular annual Campus Education Week for the 87th time.
University publicists announced earlier this week that Elder Boyd K. Packer of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (which owns BYU) will be the keynote speaker at the Education Week devotional to be held Aug. 18 at 11 a.m. in the Marriott Center.
During Education Week, more than 1,000 classes will be offered on topics ranging from LDS history and culture to family relations, genealogy, history, health, science, law and finance. There also will be entertainment provided by choral groups, popular LDS singer Dallyn Vail Bayles and a production of the locally beloved stage musical "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat."
Among those scheduled to speak or present during Education Week are LDS motivational speaker John Bytheway, author and educator Brad Wilcox, popular BYU professors Richard Neitzel Holzapfel, Randy Bott, Susan Easton Black and Robert Millet, and BYU athletic director Tom Holmoe.
Early registration for Education Week continues through Aug. 14. Additional information is available online at educationweek.byu.edu or by phone at (801) 422-2087.
