Robert Brems, new president of UCAT, spoke to Kiwanis members and guests at the Canyon View Park. He told of the Mountainland Applied Technology College that is being built here in Spanish Fork. It will be the tenth campus of its kind in Utah. It will open this fall.

Both Mark Middlebrook and Mr. Brems pointed out that MATC is not a private school, but is supported by our taxes. Technical and career skills are taught at the college for high school students as well as adults. Students are taught basic skills necessary to succeed in these technical training programs.

The college here in Spanish Fork is 'under construction where the former Valley Asphalt plant used to be. It has an 11 acre campus and will eventually have six large buildings on it.

Paul Hawker conducted the meeting and introduced the speakers. The pledge was led by John Sump and the prayer given by Bert Timpson. A delicious roast beef dinner was served to all.
