Investigators believe alcohol may be a contributing factor in a wreck that killed a Mona man on State Road 6 on Wednesday night.
Aaron Newton, 20, died at Mountain View Hospital from serious head injuries. The Department of Public Safety did not identify the driver of the 2001 Dodge Neon he was riding in, but said she may be facing charges. Sgt. Jeff Nigbur said DPS suspects alcohol may be a contributing factor in the crash and is awaiting the results of a blood test. The 20-year-old Mona woman is listed in serious to critical condition. Neither person was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 2006 Dodge Charger, was identified as Cindy Ekins of Genola. She was transported to Mountain View Hospital in serious condition. Nigbur said she suffered serious leg injuries in the wreck.
Nigbur said the Neon was traveling eastbound on S.R. 6 near Genola around 10:06 p.m. when the driver crossed over the dividing line, crashing head-on into the other vehicle, which was driving westbound.
