A new Springville art gallery, The Brown House of Fine Arts, will open at 274 S. Main during Art City Days, beginning June 7.
Bill and Marilyn Brown, who for ten years have managed the Villa Playhouse Theatre, will display their own paintings and the original works of other artists such as Veda Hale of the Hale Art Gallery in Panguitch, and Simeen Brown, a BYU art graduate who has been a student of James Christensen, and is now a freelance illustrator and graphic designer at the Salem State College in Salem, Massachussetts.
Playwright Bill Brown, who holds a degree from BYU in Theatre and Media Arts, has helped design and paint sets for eighty productions at the Villa, and novelist Marilyn Brown, who holds the MA from BYU, also has a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Utah.
Both have shown their work at various juried art exhibits and galleries throughout Utah.
The facility for the gallery has been made possible by Bill Brown Realty for the benefit of the VIP Arts (Villa Institute for the Performing Arts). All proceeds will go to the VIP Arts Scholarship Fund for the support of worthy students, developing playwrights and new, original theatrical productions.
"Opening this small art gallery on Main Street will add further interest in the arts to our already rich heritage in Springville," Bill states. "As well as support theatre in our city, we hope the gallery draws interest from many visual artists, those who might be looking for studio space, or a place to organize public showings for their work."
Inquiries are welcome at 801-489-4980 or 372-1068.
