PLEASANT GROVE

• The Kiwanis of Pleasant Grove is having its annual prayer breakfast on Saturday. It will begin at 9 a.m. at the Show Time Theater in downtown Pleasant Grove, on Main Street. Ron Williams, director of "Happy Valley" will address the group on the growing problem of drug abuse in Utah.

STATEWIDE

• At 2 p.m. today there will be a special Operation Keep in Touch ceremony just in time for Mother's Day. Representatives from the various library systems will receive with the Web cams in the rotunda at the state Capitol Building in Salt Lake City. Gov. Jon Huntsman, Attorney General Mark Shurtleff, and others are expected to attend. Carmen Rasmussen, from "American Idol" Season Two, will be singing a patriotic musical number. The Army Band and an Honor Guard will also be present.

There will also be a live webcam conversation with a group of deployed Utah National Guardsmen. They are the 27 soldiers from the 116th Convoy Security Company who were due home last month (with the other 140 from their unit) but have extended their tours of duty in answer to a call for additional troops.

They will be on the webcam, projected onto a large plasma screen TV, and many of their family members (wives, mothers, children, etc.) will be present to speak with them.

The public is invited.

SALEM

• A fishing event for approximately 900 disabled participants, mostly children, will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Salem Pond. Volunteers will assist kids with catching fish during the four-hour event. A free lunch will be provided by Albertsons.

SUNDANCE

• Sundance Resort, in coordination with the Sundance Preserve, continues its dedication to the preservation and conservation of nature by celebrating Earth Fair on Wednesday. There will be a Provo Canyon and resort cleanup from 2-4 p.m., followed by the Earth Fair and live music entertainment from 4-6 p.m. on Ray's Lawn.

Several activities and displays will be available for all ages, ranging from how to make your own bumper stickers and earth worm farms to tips on how to live green in Utah. There will even be a 24-foot portable rock climbing wall, provided by Momentum, with races every hour and lots of exciting giveaways to participants.

The Utah Wildlife Protection Society, the Division of Environmental Services for Utah County, and the Sierra Club are among the organizations participating in the Earth Fair. The Spa at Sundance, the Sundance General Store, and the Sundance Art Shack will also feature exhibits and activities. Spotted Dog Ice Cream will be giving away free ice cream and taking donations to support various charities.
