BANK ROBBERY -- Orem police are searching for a suspect who robbed a Key Bank on Monday afternoon.

A man walked up to a teller at the Key Bank at 1245 S. 800 East around 1:30 p.m. and handed her a note demanding money, according to Lt. Todd Mallinson. The suspect did not display a weapon.

Mallinson described the suspect as a white male in his late 20s wearing a jeans jacket, baseball cap, sunglasses, loose-fitting pants and skate shoes. He left the bank through the east entrance and is believed to have fled on foot. The FBI is assisting with the investigation.

DRUG ARREST -- Officer James Vance was patrolling Sunday night at about 8:45 p.m. in the area of 300 South and 1200 West in Orem and noticed a 1997 Dodge Dakota truck with out of state plates.

Lt. Doug Edwards said that when Vance started to run the plates, the driver, Aaron Gregory Anderson, 36, of Orem, took off.

Anderson drove a short distance before he stopped the truck and then bailed and ran into the trailer park at 155 S. 1200 West. Officers searched the park and spotted Anderson, but he took off on foot again, running west across 1200 West, through Trafalga Golf and Arcade, over a fence and then across Interstate 15.

Edwards said that cars along the freeway were having to brake hard to avoid hitting Anderson.

Officers finally located the driver on the other side of the freeway hiding underneath some bushes. He was taken into custody. Edwards said that a search of the truck turned up methamphetamine and a glass meth pipe.

Anderson was booked into the Utah County jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine in a drug-free-zone, reckless endangerment for running across the freeway, possession of drug paraphernalia in a drug-free-zone and failure to stop for police.
