Michael Lee, a Utah County native and general counsel to Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr., has accepted an offer to be law clerk for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito Jr. starting in July.

"Selfishly, I am disappointed, but extremely proud of Mike," Huntsman said in a news release. "There have been only a handful of Utahns who have ever been selected for this prestigious post in Washington."

Lee lives in Cedar Hills and graduated from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University. His father, Rex Lee, was a former dean of the law school and former president of BYU.

Huntsman also announced that Michele Christiansen, currently the director of the Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice, will replace Lee as general counsel.
