Concert to help family of five children, whose father died after hiking 15 miles with a broken back to save his six-year-old son
Friends from the community have organized a benefit concert and live auction at 7 p.m. on January 25 at the Springville High School to assist the Hall family who lost their husband and father to a tragic accident earlier this fall.
After the road gave way on a mountain pass in Utah, Jim Hall was left to hike his six-year-old son, Braxton, out while suffering from a broken back. Recently laid off with no health insurance, Jim Hall was sent home from the hospital to wait his surgery from a compressed fractured vertebra. He never woke up the next morning, leaving an unemployed wife and five children with no life or health insurance.
"We all go through times in life when we need an extra hand, but there are those few insurmountable experiences that require the support of an entire community," said Jessica Wycherly, friend and benefit concert organizer. "This is one of those times for the Hall family."
Concert participants include Peter Breinholt; local blue grass band, Miles to Go; and Alex Boye'. Tickets to the "Peter Breinholt Hall Family Benefit Concert" are $12 and may be purchased through SmithsTix on-line at www.smithstix.com, by phone at 1-800-888-8499 or at any Smith's store.
Auctioneer, Kevin Gallagher, will conduct the live auction which includes a night's stay at Hotel Park City Hotel, Grizzly Hockey tickets, autographed basketball by the Utah Jazz, golfing packages, food and entertainment, art and numerous other products and services donated by local businesses.
Organizers hope many will be willing to participate and help out a family in need. Anyone interested in helping the Hall family who is not able to attend the benefit concert and live auction may contribute to the Jim Hall Children's Fund at Zion's bank by calling 801-465-2502 or mailing checks to Zion's Bank at P.O. Box 365 Payson, UT 84651.
