UVSC to hold Career Employment and Internship Fair
Utah Valley State College's bi-annual Career Employment and Internship Fair will take place today from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the UVSC Student Center Grande Ballroom. Students are encouraged to dress professionally and bring an updated resume.
With the goal to help students meet employers, network and find jobs, the Career Fair is a collection of 65-70 perspective employers gathered from around the country providing contact opportunities for UVSC students and alumni. Recruiters from companies such as Wells Fargo Financial, Saint Mark's Hospital and Dell, Inc. will be available to answer questions and provide information.

Political cartoonist to visit UVSC
Utah Valley State College will host a public lecture and demonstration Friday at 11 a.m. in room 101 of the Physical Education Building, featuring guest lecturer Steven Benson, editor and cartoonist for the Arizona Republic newspaper. His lecture titled, "Drawing Democracy: The Role of Political Cartooning in American History," will address the role of editorial cartooning in American politics.
Benson won a Pulitzer Prize in 1993 and is former president of the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists. He graduated cum laude in Political Science from Brigham Young University and currently lives in Gilbert, Ariz., with his wife and four children.
"This is an opportunity to hear a nationally recognized political figure speak about his work and hear about the way cartoons shape public opinion," said Bill Evenson, associate dean of sciences.
"How the West was Fun" at UVSC
Utah Valley State College's musical theater students will perform, "How the West Was Fun," February 3-4 and 6 at 7:30 p.m. at the Ragan Theater. The music and numbers comprising the first half of the show originate from western musicals like "Oklahoma," "Paint Your Wagon," "Shenandoah," "Annie Get Your Gun" and the "Unsinkable Molly Brown." The second half will be a 55-minute play, "How the West Was Fun," the story of a mail-order bride, a southern belle, a can-can dancer and a sharp-shooting female stagecoach driver, all of whom are making their way west to find eligible bachelors.
Tickets are $10 general admission, $7 for children and students and available at Campus Connection, 863-8797.

EXHIBIT: UVSC's Woodbury Art Museum presents, "Pop Art," an exhibition featuring portraits of Marilyn Monroe by Andy Warhol as well as pieces from well-known artists like Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Indiana, Peter Max, Alex Katz, Robert Rauschenberg and others. The exhibit is open Tuesday to Saturday, noon to 8 p.m., and is free and open to the public.
