PAROLE DATE SET -- The 27-year-old man found guilty of murdering an Orem man more than 10 years ago will be released from prison in six years.

Beau Heaps, who police say instigated the murder of 38-year-old John Freitag on Aug. 25, 1996, will be released from the Utah State Prison on Aug. 28, 2012.

The release date was set after Heaps went before Kent Jones, the senior hearing officer for the Utah Board of Pardons and Parole, for a review hearing in August. Jones made a recommendation to the parole board after the hearing. Upon release, Heaps will have served 16 years in connection with Freitag's death. Originally, Heaps's release date was set for 2016.

BOY BURNED WITH LIGHTER -- A 34-year-old American Fork man was arrested Saturday after he allegedly burned his son with a candle lighter.

Robby Ferron Gines was arrested after a social worker for Utah Valley Regional Medical Center called American Fork police to report a juvenile had been burned by his father.

According to the probable cause statement, the victim told the social worker his father burned hair on his face with the butane-type candle lighter and then placed the hot end of the lighter on his chest, all for not getting out of bed for a football game.

Gines was taken to the Utah County Jail and a 4th District judge set his bail at $5,000 cash or bond Monday morning.

MAN ACCUSED OF RAPE, PORN -- A Salt Lake City man was arrested Friday after police say he received pornographic images of two 15-year-olds via cell phones.

David Bradley Burningham, 38, was arrested after the Utah County Sheriff's Office was notified that a 15-year-old was allegedly sending Burningham pornographic pictures of herself. According to the probable cause statement, the victim said she engaged in sexual intercourse with the suspect several times and sent the pictures of herself in exchange for goods, such as makeup and perfume.

A second 15-year-old girl also told police she had sent Burningham the same type of pornographic pictures of herself via her cell phone.

Burningham was booked into the Utah County Jail and faces the potential charges of three counts of rape, one count of forcible sodomy and six counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

A 4th District judge set his bail at $50,000 cash.

SWORD THREAT -- A 22-year-old Provo man was arrested Sunday after he allegedly threatened his girlfriend with a sword.

Police say Joseph David Harward allegedly pulled out a sword and held the sword to his girlfriend's neck while yelling at her.

Harward was arrested and booked into the Utah County Jail on a charge of aggravated assault. A 4th District judge set Harward's bail at $5,000 cash or bond.

ALLEGED RAPE -- A 25-year-old Logan man was arrested Sunday morning after he allegedly raped a UVSC student.

Police say the 18-year-old Colorado native met David Ortiz a few months ago through work. The student was at a club in Salt Lake City on Saturday night when Ortiz went up to meet her. Needing a ride home, police say the 18-year-old accepted a ride back to Orem from Ortiz.

According to police, Ortiz asked if he could sleep at the woman's place for a few hours before driving back to Logan. The 18-year-old agreed, Orem police said, and that is when the rape allegedly occurred.

On Monday, a 4th District judge set Ortiz's bail at $25,000 cash or bond.

FORGERY -- Bail has been set for a woman accused of forging her dead sister-in-law's checks at produce stands.

Nicki Lynn Warner, 37, was arrested Wednesday on charges of forging Sharee Hatch's checks at Harward Farms produce stands in Orem. Hatch was murdered by Warner's brother -- Hatch's husband -- in 2002.Warner allegedly wrote three checks, one for $44, one for $7 and the other for $41. Bail was set for $10,000 cash or bond.

RESTAURANT ROBBED -- Mi Ranchito Mexican Restaurant on State Street in Orem was robbed Saturday night.

Orem police are looking for a white man in his 20s, who was wearing a gray hoodie, shorts, and green and white shoes at the time of the robbery. The man entered the restaurant around 5:30 p.m. and handed the hostess a piece of paper demanding all the money.

After giving the suspect the cash, he took off in an Oldsmobile. No one was injured and no weapon was displayed during the robbery.

ASSAULT -- Angeleque Quintana, 22, of American Fork, was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault Saturday after a woman called the American Fork Police Department saying Quintana threatened her ex-husband with a rifle. According to the probable cause statement, Quintana got angry with her ex-husband, with whom she still lives, and went into the living room with a rifle, found him and a female friend asleep on separate couches and starting yelling that she was going to kill him. Her ex-husband took the gun away. The couple's two children were asleep in the house at the time.

FORGERY -- Provo police responded to a fight at a gas station Sunday and discovered the woman involved had false identifying information and false documents. Mary Jean Johnson, 36, of Provo, was arrested on 19 counts of check forgery, six counts of forgery device and eight counts of theft, in addition to violating a protective order and giving false information to a police officer, according to the probable cause statement. Police allege that she lied about who she was and about who broke the windows in a truck she was driving, and that she tampered with the registration date of the vehicle. Further investigation resulted in the eight theft charges from prior incidents in which Johnson allegedly used her name and the false name to make purchases.
