Local participants took part in the NFL Pepsi Punt, Pass & Kick competition hosted by Santaquin City Recreation on September 20, 2008 at the City Hall Field.¬ Boys and girls ages 8-15 were able to test their skills in punting, passing and kicking for free.¬
A number of former and current NFL players have competed in Punt, Pass & Kick, including record-setting quarterbacks Dan Marino and Drew Bledsoe.¬
The event started with a clinic by Chris Mortensen, who taught the youth techniques to improve scores.¬ In addition, each youth got to punt, pass and kick for distance and accuracy. Santaquin City Recreation Manager Kevin Schmidt oversaw the day's events. "I am thrilled that we were able to offer this for free to the youth of the area.¬ We will continue to strive and offer free events to the public so that everyone can have the opportunity to participate in great programs."

These winners will move on to a Sectional Competition, to be held in October at the Tremonton City Center.¬ They will have the chance to qualify for the Team Championship competition, held in conjunction with a Denver Broncos game.¬
