The Utah Department of Transportation has resumed daily paving on the I-15 Carpool Connection project in Utah County, extending the carpool lanes from the Alpine Interchange to University Parkway.

Construction on the project is expected to be complete in June.

Motorists in the area should expect single-lane restrictions, both northbound and southbound, at localized points on I-15 between Lehi and Orem, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.

Once nighttime temperatures improve, paving operations will switch to the night and motorists will be restricted to one lane in each direction between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. until paving work is complete.

"UDOT appreciates the public's willing cooperation and support during the construction," said Greg Searle, UDOT Resident Engineer. "In a recent project survey, 88 percent of Utah County residents said they believe the benefits of the carpool lanes outweigh any problems they've experienced during construction."

According to the UDOT phone survey conducted in October 2005 by Dan Jones & Associates, a majority of Utah County drivers look forward to an improved commute at the end of construction and are planning to use the lanes once they are completed.
