23-year-old man dies after motorcycle accident in Provo

A 23-year-old man was killed in a motorcycle accident Tuesday afternoon in Provo.

The victim has been identified as Joshua Benson of Provo.

According to Provo police, at 2:20 p.m. a car was headed east on 800 North when it turned left at 300 West and hit the victim, who was riding a motorcycle headed west on 800 North. The driver of the car, 26-year-old Chris Strong of Orem, didn't see the motorcycle, according to police. The victim was unable to stop the motorcycle before it hit the car. The victim, who wasn't wearing a helmet, suffered serious head injuries and was taken to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the car wasn't injured.

The accident is under investigation, and no citations have been issued.
