With five weeks remaining in FOX's "American Idol" talent competition, the biggest question is whether anyone can catch Murray High School junior David Archuleta, who is consistently drawing high praise from the show's judges.

On Tuesday, the show's contestants had to perform a song made famous by Mariah Carey, and the show's judges said Archuleta set the benchmark. Archuleta chose "When You Believe," and after two more contestants had performed, the show's hard-to-please judge Simon Cowell said Archuleta had "stolen the show. And he's the one to beat."

During weekly results shows, contestants are eliminated by popular vote among the show's viewers. Kristy Lee Cook, a 24-year-old horse trainer from Selma, Oregon, was eliminated Wednesday. There are now six contestants left, including Archuleta and fellow LDS Church member Brooke White of Mesa, Ariz.

Archuleta said on Wednesday's show that he's feeling more comfortable on the American Idol stage. "I've never been happier in my life, pretty much," Archuleta said.

Contestants each had the chance to get tips from Carey as they prepared to perform her songs. Carey said on Tuesday's show that Archuleta's performance was "really moving."

"I'm really proud of him and where he seems to be at as a person and his singing is just beautiful," Carey said.

Archuleta and the remaining contestants will perform again Tuesday at 7 p.m. on FOX, channel 13.
