• FIRE -- A fire south of Saratoga Springs burned about eight acres before fire crews got it under control about 5 p.m. Sunday. Teresa Rigby, spokeswoman for the Bureau of Land Management, said the fire, which was close to mile marker 20 on State Road 68, west of Utah Lake, is under investigation as to the cause. Historically, fires in that area have been caused by people, so that is an option, she said, but nothing has been confirmed. Fire trucks from Utah County, Goshen, Saratoga Springs and BLM responded to the blaze, as did a couple of air tankers and a helicopter. Rigby said no homes or businesses were in danger from the fire.

She also cautioned people who are heading out to beware of the fire risk and to be prepared, including taking extra water, a shovel and a fire extinguisher.

• SEARCH AND RESCUE -- Utah County Sheriff's deputies were called to Provo Canyon twice on Sunday, once to find a missing boy and once to help a man who was hiking near Stewart Falls and said he could not come down on his own. The man complained of numbness in his arms and legs and couldn't move, so a search and rescue crew brought him down. The boy was only missing for a few minutes before being found.

• STRUCTURE FIRE -- A cabin in the Echo Creek Ranches in Summit County burned to the ground after a Sunday morning fire. No one was home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.
