A Pleasant Grove man was arrested Monday after allegedly slashing his roommate's throat. According to a police report, officers were dispatched to a location in Cedar Hills where a man had a large cut to his throat. An extensive amount of blood was found in the street and on the sidewalk. The man's trachea and arteries in his neck had been cut and he was transported by helicopter to the hospital for life-saving surgery.

The victim reportedly told a neighbor he had been attacked by his roommate, 20-year-old Karl Luedecke.

Witnesses allegedly saw someone in the victim's car backing out of the driveway and leaving the scene. Officers put out an "attempt to locate" for the vehicle, which was later found in Highland with Luedecke. Luedecke reportedly told officers he was tired of being taken advantage of.

Blood spatters were reportedly located on Luedecke's hat, shoes and clothing and there was fresh blood in the car. According to the report, the man threw the knife into a nearby field and it has not been located. Luedecke also reportedly refused to cooperate with law enforcement after the incident.

According to the police report, Luedecke has been living in the same home as the victim and was also working for the victim.

Luedecke has been in Utah for approximately two months and is currently unemployed. He reportedly told officers he had taken the victim's car in order to catch a Greyhound bus to go to Texas.

He was booked into the Utah County Jail with a $150,000 cash bail on charges of aggravated assault, theft of a vehicle and obstruction of justice.
