Denise De Vynck has a huge number of care packages lined up for Utah troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. She just needs $15,000 to get them there.

The founder of the Orem-based nonprofit Letters to Soldiers wants to raise the money by selling 1,500 concert tickets to hear the likes of Diamond Rio keyboardist Dan Truman, Miss Utah Jill Stevens and a plethora of local talent.

The only problem? Her tickets sales stand at 20. Two-zero.

"I need to sell 1,500," De Vynck says.

It's the second year she has done such a concert. Last year she sent 150 packages and has received many donations this year. They include everything from homemade Christmas stockings to "real" shaving cream.

"You should see the icky stuff they're issued," De Vynck says.

Though Letters to Soldiers is based in Utah County, she says performers needed a more central location for the event so it will be held at Studio 600 in Salt Lake.

If De Vynck can't get enough tickets sold to cover shipping costs?

"I'm just leaving it in the Lord's hands and saying 'Lord, I've done everything I can do and I'm leaving it up to you.' "

Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. was originally scheduled to make some opening remarks, but spokeswoman Lisa Roskelley said a timing conflict was discovered and he likely won't make it.
