Vickie Chatterly has 21 artistic paintings now on display in the Peteetneet Art Gallery through June 11, 2009.

Born and raised in Mt. Pleasant Utah, Vickie is married to John Chatterly from Cedar City, and they live in Santaquin, Utah. She is proud of her seven grandchildren and one great grandson! Her married children are Shari Watson of Payson, Sheresa Garcia of Pocatello, Idaho, and Derrick Crowther of Helper Utah.

Sometime during her late teens or early twenty's she discovered that she had a strong desire to paint this beautiful world. In college she took a humanity class that taught of Vincent VanGough's life and accomplishments along with other artists. Her interest in the arts became stronger. She enrolled in a class that taught direct painting of nature scenes and older structures.

Vickie spent a year learning the old masters techniques taught by Lynne Weidinger. During that time she painted Queen Victoria and that painting is on display at Peteetneet. In addition,.she had a very spiritual experience as a young girl in the Manti Temple and the older she got the stronger her desire became to paint that experience.

With the help of a local artist, Doug Aagard, Vickie was able to paint this picture to a full realization, and it is on display also. Doug has helped her with other paintings as he is the Art Instructor at the Payson Senior Center.

She draws mostly upon herself for ideas, and from that idea she develops a strong mental picture of what to paint on her canvas. She finds herself fascinated by other artists work- their subject matter, how an observers eyes follow the picture, the motion and rhythm of a painting. Vickie has enjoyed learning something new every day and seeing her life long dream come true.

There will be an Artists Reception for Vickie on Sunday May 24 from 4 pm to5 pm and you are invited to visit with the Artist, Vickie Chatterly during that hour. Her art will be on display until June 11th.
