SALT LAKE CITY -- A 17-year-old girl on the run from American Fork police after an alleged attack on a maternity home director was in custody Wednesday.
The Illinois girl was spotted at the home of her grandmother by a citizen, who reported her to Chicago Police, according to a news release from police in American Fork. She was arrested and later agreed voluntarily to be extradited to Utah.
She's now being held in Utah County's Slate Canyon Detention Center.
It's not known how long the girl had been at her grandmother's home, or who else may have helped her over the past two months, police said.
The girl is one of three pregnant teens wanted in connection with the Jan. 16 attack on Jana Moody, who ran the New Hope Maternity Home. Police say the girls used a frying pan to assault Moody, and flee, taking her credit card and van. The van was later found abandoned.
A 15-year-old girl turned herself into police Jan. 30. A third girl remains missing, police said Wednesday.
Police said the 17-year-old was in good health, but it was unclear if she had had her baby.
In January police said the girls were facing possible criminal charges that could include aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault, aggravated robbery and auto theft.
