A woman died Wednesday evening after a car accident on northbound Interstate 15 near Santaquin.

The accident happened at about 5:07 p.m. at milepost 248, according to Trooper Cameron Roden of the Utah Highway Patrol.

Roden said Jodi Lynn Martinez, 40, of Santaquin was driving a Pontiac Sunfire in the left lane of northbound I-15 when she drifted to the left, then corrected back to the right.

That's where she hit a tow dolly being pulled by a white Ford pickup truck. Her car went off the right side of the road and rolled several times.

Martinez was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle, Roden said. The two men in the Ford truck were not injured.

She refused to be taken to the hospital in a medical helicopter, so she was taken by ground ambulance to Mountain View Hospital in Payson, Roden said.

Her condition started to deteriorate, so she was flown to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, where she died.

Roden said troopers suspect drugs or alcohol may have been a factor in the accident, which is still under investigation.
