With a perfect mixture of smooth-rolling country tunes, classic rock n' roll hits, and soul-searching blues, the Crossroads band is a tribute to the face of local music. Created in 2001, Crossroads not only has a mixture of great music but also boasts two father-and-son duos.

With Randy Ellsworth on the bass and his son, Jared Ellsworth, on the keyboard, the first father-and-son duo is complete.

Lehi residents, they complement Ron Dimmick playing the drums and his son, Scott Dimmick, with the guitar. Rounding out the band, Rick Pray can be found performing lead guitar and lead vocals.

Each of the band members has played music throughout the majority of their lives, and together they share a passion for creating great music.

Although to some playing in a band with a father or son would be considered a breach of the musical generation gap, the Crossroads family pairs love working together.

On their Web site, Scott Dimmick said about band dynamics, "I love playing music with my dad. He is my best friend and we get along great."

In addition to that sentiment, Randy Dimmick commented, "I can't think of anything I'd rather do than play music, and it's even better playing with my son. Sometimes he's really hard on me, offering constructive critique on how I play and sing, but I am proud that my boy has grown to be such a wise and talented musician."

It seems that Crossroads has overcome their generational difficulties, and has succeeded in creating a thriving musical crew.

Crossroads performs for a variety of different events, such as wedding receptions, community events, corporate functions, birthday parties and family reunions.

Their talent in an assortment of musical genres allows them to accommodate any type of listener; whether its hits from The Beatles, Keith Urban's latest tunes, or a Jimi Hendrix song, Crossroads can deliver a great performance.

The band's mission statement is simple, "quality, professional entertainment," and their loyalty to this philosophy shines through in their performances.

On June 25 Crossroads performed at Wines Park for the Lehi Round-Up Days. The audience enjoyed numerous classic music hits as they joined with neighbors and friends to celebrate their community.

Although they have shows year round, "Most of our performances are during the summertime," Jared Ellsworth said.

Crossroads is based in Spanish Fork, but they perform anywhere in Utah, California, Wyoming, Nevada, Idaho, and Colorado.

If you'd like to catch more of Crossroads smooth music Crossroads is scheduled to perform on July 4 at 4:30 p.m. at the Centennial Park in Blanding, Utah, as well as on July 5 for an EMS Fundraising Event from 7-10 p.m. in Torrey, Utah. Both performances are open to the public.
