• Centro de la Familia de Utah, in conjunction with the Martin Luther King Day of Service, is conducting a children's book drive for Spanish-speaking families as part of the family literacy program through Friday.¬ Spanish-speaking families can come to pick up their free books from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday. Books can be dropped off or picked up at any of Centro's five locations, including:

Genola Head Start Center, 352 E. 800 South, 754-0700.

Mt. Pleasant Head Start Center, 1150 S. Blackhawk Blvd.

Since 1975, Centro de la Familia de Utah's has become the state's largest Latino-oriented nonprofit agency, serving both urban and rural Spanish-speaking families¬ and their children.

• The University of Utah Marching Band has been invited to the Presidential Inauguration on Jan. 20, and Cold Stone Creamery is helping to get them there. Cold Stone locations across Utah, including those in Utah County, are hosting a fundraising event from 5 to 10 p.m. today. The 13 stores will donate 25 percent of today's sales to help send the band to the inauguration in Washington, D.C. Band members and Utes cheerleaders will be at various stores during the fundraiser.

• The Money Mastery course, which is based on the Utah State Office of Education-approved financial literacy curriculum currently taught in high schools, is now available to adults through community education programs. The Money Mastery class teaches a unique and comprehensive approach to financial mastery not taught anywhere else, approaching complete financial mastery like a puzzle. The class will be taught at Utah Valley University, 800 W. University Parkway, in Room 106 of the Liberal Arts Building, beginning Jan. 28. EAGLE MOUNTAIN

• Eagle Valley Elementary library will host Local Heroes Night with Brigham Young University football players Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the school, 4475 Heritage Drive. Also speaking is Westlake High's head football coach Jason Walker. All fifth- and sixth-grade students, their parents, and any future Westlake High football players and their parents are invited to attend.
