College Democrats at Brigham Young University don't plan to be quiet while the vice president speaks later this month; they plan to protest.

BYU College Democrats President Diane Bailey said the group will assemble on the corner of Bulldog Boulevard and Canyon Road on graduation day.

They plan to focus this demonstration on peace. The theme will be "Go Forth Establish Peace."

Bailey said the group had already established it's criticism of Vice President Dick Cheney -- they don't like his behavior in the war or his other policies -- but on graduation day the group wants to tell graduates they can make a difference.

"We hope that they will do everything that they can to establish peace and use violence only as a last resort," Bailey said.

BYU spokeswoman Carri Jenkins said the university assigned the College Democrats the spot at Bulldog Boulevard and Canyon Road because the group requested it. This is the second location the club has requested. Jenkins said the first spot that the group requested was too close to the vice president.

The College Democrats are not disappointed with the location.

"We're really pleased. It was exactly what we wanted it to be," Bailey said.

David Lassen, president of the College Republicans at BYU, said his group wants to keep the day special and respectful for both Cheney and the graduates. His organization isn't planning to do anything, unless other Republican organizations meet or protest in the community.

Jenkins said the university has asked groups that would like to protest to work through proper channels, and the College Democrats have done that.
