The body of a boater missing since Monday was found in Utah Lake on Saturday.
Lon Thongthipvoravong, 32, of Orem, had been fishing with five other friends when their boat capsized Monday night. All five other passengers had been rescued by Tuesday morning.
About 30 volunteers, including friends and family of Thongthipvoravong, spent Saturday searching for the body. Sheriff's deputies used sonar, boats and even a plane in the search, but in the end it was a boater on the lake who spotted the body and alerted searchers, said Lt. Dave Bennett of the Sheriff's Office.
"A passing boater spotted something in the water and brought it to our attention," Bennett said. "It turned out to be the person we were looking for."
The body was found at 12:48 p.m., just over half a mile away from where the boat was found on Thursday in about ten feet of water.
