An LDS-based private learning center in Lindon may soon grow to nearly double its size, if they pass approval by the Lindon City Council.

The Pinnacle Learning Center, a branch of Kimber Academy, currently averages 36 students a day, and has requested a permit to allow 70 students to use the facility per day.

"We just moved to Lindon this year from Provo, where we were at close to 140 students," said Colin Jensen, principal of the Pinnacle Learning Center. "We have the capability of growing to those high of numbers, and we think that this would be a good step toward that

The learning center moved in September when the ownership of the school changed, and are now located at the old Lindon City building at 383 W. Lakeview.

With the move, the Pinnacle Learning Center saw a drop in attendance, but Jensen said that with more people learning about their programs, the attendance is once again growing.

The Learning Center provides what Jensen called a learning experience built on an LDS foundation for their students aged five to adult, drawn mainly from the homeschool community.

The school offers 12 hours of core classes per week, including math, science, English, history and Book of Mormon classes. They have also begun elective classes that range from economics and martial arts to latin.

"We base the learning for all of our subjects on the scriptures," Jensen said. "There are LDS principles in everything you can study and we try to help the students learn how the subjects relate to the scriptures."
