MT. PLEASANT-- The Mormon Pioneer National Heritage Area (MPNHA) has placed its management plan and supporting documents, including the environmental assessment, in public libraries along the heritage corridor for public comment and review.

The following libraries have CDs of the management plan: Mt. Pleasant Library, 24 East Main, Richfield Library, 83 East Center; Panguitch Library, 25 South 200 East; Kanab Library, 374 North Main Street; Escalante Library, 90 North 100 West; Gunnison Library, 38 West Center Street; Ephraim Library, 30 South Main; Manti Library, 50 South Main; Salina Library, 90 West Main; Bicknell Library, 79 North 100 West.

In order to draw responses from throughout the MPNHA, which includes Sanpete, Sevier, Piute, Wayne, Garfield and Kane Counties, the Utah Heritage Highway 89 Alliance, which serves as the management entity for the heritage area, has been working on the planning process for the past seven years.

The management plan has undergone several drafts, and in October, 2007, additional scoping sessions and open houses were held at Mt. Pleasant City Hall; Piute County Courthouse, and in the Kane County library in Kanab.

The placement of CDs constitutes the final phase for comment and review from the general public. Comments are encourged by email, fax, and postal delivery.
