COUNTY WIDE
The Utah County Tinnitus Self-Help Group will meet at 7 p.m. on Oct. 24 in the Springville Public Library meeting room, 50 N. Main St. The guest speaker will be Aaron Remley, who will discuss how he overcame tinnitus.
AMERICAN FORK
The American Fork Community Literacy Center is planning a yard sale for Saturday and is accepting donations from the public of items to be sold.
Anyone with clean, new or gently used toys, clothing, furniture, books or other items may bring them to Robinson Park, 100 East and Main Street on the morning of the sale, which is scheduled to run from 8 a.m. to noon.
They may also bring them to the homes of the organizers: Karma Swain, 323 N. 825 East, or RoseAnn Gunther, 856 E. 700 North. Those who are unable to bring their items may contact representatives of the Literacy Center to have them picked up. Swain's number is 756-2388, Gunther's is 756-2433. CEDAR HILLS
City staff ask that residents keep leaves and other debris out of the storm drains. Not only does it improve the beauty of the streets, but it increases safety by allowing water to drain properly rather than puddling and potentially icing over. For areas that need attention, residents can contact the city office at 785-9668.
EAGLE MOUNTAIN
Utah County Sheriff's deputies and Eagle Mountain firefighters will be giving demonstrations on public safety on Wednesday at the Public Safety Building north of Fire Station 1 in the Eagle Mountain Town Center. There will be demonstrations of a fire safety house, fire apparatus, ambulance and equipment used by SWAT and search and rescue. Refreshments will be served.
LEHI
Lehi City announced its employee of the month, Detective Bryan Larsen of the Lehi Police Department. He began his employment as a traffic officer with the city and recently assisted the Utah County Sex Crimes Task Force in making its 19th arrest.
PLEASANT GROVE
Tickets are now being sold for the annual Great Pumpkin Fest held at the Pleasant Grove Community Center. Dinner, games and a fun costume contest will take place on Oct. 30 beginning at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $3.50 per person. Children 3 and younger are free.
PROVO
Volunteers are needed for The Center's Halloween celebration from 6:30-9 p.m. on Oct. 26. To volunteer, call 852-7635.
There will be games, a magician, a spook alley, tattoo art, prizes and arts and crafts. The event will be $2 per person or $8 per family. Children 5 and younger are free. The Center is at 222 W. 500 North, Provo.
SALEM
Salem is celebrated the completion of the community center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Saturday. The building was built by residents and volunteers.
