PROVO, Utah -- A group of Brigham Young University public relations and advertising students has helped get several restaurants to participate in a project encouraging customers to donate a dollar for the glass of water they usually get for free.

In Utah, 36 restaurants are participating in UNICEF's Tap Project as part of World Water Week, which runs through Saturday.

Last year an estimated 2,300 restaurants participated and the project raised $855,000 for water improvement projects throughout the world. This is the first year Utah has officially participated.

The group of BYU students got restaurants from cities such as Richfield, Ogden and Park City to participate.

One restaurateur, Fiddler's Elbow owner Andrew Scrivner, hopes patrons will donate at least $500.
