AF SKATE PARK UNDER CONSTRUCTION -- Cooley Construction workers sprayed about 30 yards of a product called Shockrete at the American Fork skate park Oct. 13.

It is forming the centerpiece of the park, which will be about 26,000 sq. ft. when completed. It will include sections for both street and bowl skating. Weather has been a delaying factor in pouring the hard surface. When the company does the surfacing for the bowl area, it will not be as much of a concern.

"Since much of the bowl is below the ground, we can cover it and keep the temperature around 60 degrees," Nate Cooley said. He estimated the work would be complete by Nov. 15.

Cooley, a skater himself, said the American Fork skate park was one of the biggest around.

"This park probably has the biggest street section and the largest bowl in the state," he said. "It is an 11-foot bowl, probably the deepest in Utah."
