MAG endorses Lehi freeway plan

The Mountainland Association of Governments has thrown its weight behind Lehi City and their "preferred alternative" plan for the Mountain View Corridor, a highway planned for west of Interstate 15 that will connect I-15 and I-80.

On Thursday, the Mountainland Metropolitan Planning Organization Regional Planning Committee adopted a resolution supporting the use of a 4800 North freeway alignment in combination with a bridge over Utah Lake for the critical transportation corridor as opposed to cutting through Lehi at 2100 North.

As the northwest region of Utah County continues to grow rapidly, traffic needs have also increased.

According to MAG, given the relatively few east-west routes, a multi-lane arterial network such as the Mountain View Corridor will be a critical part of the future road network in Utah County.
