PROVO -- One girl is dead and four others are injured after two vehicles collided in south Provo on Thursday night.

Noemi B. Manriquez, 14, died shortly after reaching the hospital after the 9:46 p.m. crash in which neither driver had a valid license.

"The impact was extremely devastating," said Provo Sgt. Matt Siufanua.

Manriquez was in a Dodge Stratus with her cousins, 18-year-old Olga Galindo, who was driving, and 13-year-old Vanessa Galindo. The Stratus pulled out of a business at 1000 South and University Avenue and turned left to get into northbound lanes.

Olga Galindo didn't see the oncoming Civic in the southbound lane, Siufanua said, and the Stratus was T-boned on the driver's side. No one was ejected in the impact, but Manriquez was not wearing a seat belt.

The two people in the Civic, Diego Barajas, 19, and Diego Deltoro, 15, received serious injuries but their conditions have stabilized. The two Galindos were injured as well, but not seriously.

Everyone involved is from Provo, and alcohol and drugs are not thought to be factors in the crash.

The investigation is continuing, and while no citations have been issued, there are several factors being considered:

• "Neither one of them had valid drivers licenses," Siufanua said. Barajas has a learners permit and must be accompanied by someone at least 21 years old.

• The speed of the Civic is unknown at this time and there is no indication that the driver had any chance to brake.
